As far as the key and wire harness, go to trailbikes and order the new correct one for your bike. I spent HOURS and HOURS trying to locate the electrical problem in my '72, and the $70 for the key AND harness fixed my problem in under an hour (install time). Plus, the black cover is nice and fresh and pliable and looks great.

Just my .02, but if your time is worth anything, or you frustrate easily, get the new and avoid the headaches.

    Amen to that!!!

The first CT70 I restored was from Japan and the ignition had the key, plus the original harness was intact. To make a long story short, I wound up taking the ignition switch itself apart to clean the contacts. It was a four hour job and the ground wire had to be moved to a different pole.

To this day, it has a shaky contact and occasionally must be cycled through its range a few times to get the lights to work properly. Never again!

That makes good sense. some of these parts are so buried that you don't want to have to go back in and fix or troubleshoot. Speaking of buried deep - the ignition coil - aftermarket or honda? does it matter and is this a good place to save money on something just as good?

same question for the air box. thank you!

    my ignition plan?

Thanks for the link. I bought a second CT 70 a few weeks back and both 69 k0 and 72 K1) are now dismantled. The second one is a 1969 K0 numbers matching motor and frame with original ignition. I do need to replace the wiring harness but should I keep the original ignition and key or is it just personal preference? NOS or original? thank you

I remember there were differences in the wiring on the keyed ignition switches from my 1969 parts bike and 1972 CT-70H. I had to de-solder, move and re-solder wires on the back of the key-switch to make the 1969 key switch work on the 1972 bike`s wiring harness.

Do you still need those parts?
