    Buddy Pegs

I have a '79 that doesn't have a hole in the swing arm for buddy pegs.

Can someone direct me to a place that sells aftermarket pegs that will clamp on.
Or even better,,, take a set off of yours and give them to me

    OK,,, I didn't think so.

Or you can always buy a used swingarm from an earlier year. Just another idea.

You've discovered Honda's subtle method of declaring the later models "rider only". Forget trying to come up with a clamp-on mount for the LH peg, it's impractical. Sourcing an earlier swingarm, as has been suggested, makes a lot more sense. Either way, you're going to have to deal with paint, so may as well leave the original arm unmolested. It might be cheaper to source an earlier model, to boot. The other alternative is to fab a couple of small brackets from scraps of plate steel and use the lower shock mounts as attachment points. .125" thick material, bent into a broad U-shape for rigidity, ought to do the job. Some of the earlier buddy pegs used a similar type of mount, that bolted to the peg bosses on the swingarm.

I'd go with an older swingarm. Lots can be found on Ebay at a great price.

OMG,,, this is turning out to be a bigger project than I had expected.

An older swing arm eh? Spend $50-$90 just to put on $10 buddy pegs seems crazy.

I r e a l l y appreciate the advice. You told me what I thought I would end up doing anyway. DRAT!
