Headlight ears K3 chromed or painted

    Hi folks,
Does anyone have a good set of headlight ears for my CT70-K3 ? I know they are hard to find but I need help, there isn't much down here in Australia. Was told 73-79 are the same ears just one is chrome and the other is painted, not sure ? Any help much appreciated I want to do 100 point resto if I can. I also need a headlight bucket and good straight RHS handlebar for K3.

    Thanks
    Dave

It is near impossible to find a nondented/bent pair, I searched for a good portion of a year to find mine, only to pay $60 for a pair from canada that was still dented but not bent and in better shape than the ones I had. Just giving you the heads up on the difficulty and what to expect to pay. but I was also only looking for chrome ones, you might have better luck with painted.

you could buy these, I think they are being sold by a member on here and you could ask about shipping to Australia

Thanks for that, I did ask him to send me some close up pictures and one of them is badly damaged. I'm hoping someone comes good with a set and helps out. Trying to find these in South Australia isn't looking good at the moment.

finding these anywhere in good shape is not looking good, I have searched ebay everytime I have logged on for over a year and have not found a set without damage. I looked into restoring the pair I have and it was around $150.

I would place it as the rarest ct70 part out there.

if you have any local motorcycle scrap yards, maybe you could try there

I have only had two sets in the last couple of years. One set was bent up pretty badly and one set was very nice with only some small pitting in the chrome but no dents or dings. I think I got a couple of hundred for the good set. The bars are a bit easier to find. Good luck though.

There's got to be someone out there in the mini-trails planet who can dig a set of these up for me at a junk yard or swap meet ? America is a big place !! There's only 22 million people in Australia and not a lot of CT70's.

Any leads.... please remember there's an Ozzie in need !!

This is my old K3 that I redone last year. had the same problem with the fork ears. What i done was scuff the heck out of the chrome...Then, with a little bondo and glazing compound, was able to make them look like new after a fresh coat of paint. I realize it's not original, but makes it look nice if that is your goal. Just an idea.

America is a big place, with a big population which increases demand for these parts and makes them harder to find. heck I live in the US but the set I bought was from Canada.

Try Planet Minis and Ebay...Those will be your two best options unless you go aftermarket. The original chrome ears are so very hard to find in decent shape even here in the USA. There just were not that many of those bikes mfg. I don't think you will have a hard time finding the painted ears...Those are much more available...Then you can have them chromed.

Like Mike said, they are very expensive in good shape. I looked at a local salvage yard (for another member) for them and had no luck...I know they show up there sometimes, but you have to be there at the right time or they are gone. How much are you willing to pay for a set?
