I've used this stuff for the same purpose before:

    McMaster-Carr

I had some adhesive backed Viton rubber sheet laying around so I cut a piece ~1" wide that was long enough to wrap around the muffler. I put the sticky side toward the strap, not the muffler, and I trimmed a couple of fender washers to to the right shape to reinforce the strap at the mounting bolt and bolted it on. In a pinch, on my old 2-strokes I used hose clamps and a piece of angle cut and drilled to work as a mounting bracket. It didn't look too high tech, but it worked.

Or, there's always something like this:

eBay Motors: Muffler Exhaust Clamp, Honda CRF XR, Pit Bike, (item 160296794332 end time May-03-09 1449 PDT)

    Easier, but it costs more.
