    Shock cover straighter - 12-11-2009, 07:27 PM

This is what I use to straighten the covers on the rear shocks, easy to use. Have a friend or small machine shop turn you a alum. spud about 5" long or so and make it about .005 smaller then a good cover ID. spray a little WD40 inside the cover, put it in a drill press use the spindle to press it to the bottom. then turn it over and use a punch to knock back out. If the cover is really bad you can use a plastic hammer and tap the high spots while the alum. shaft is still in there. I was working on the covers on that 69 ct I got and thought I'd take a few pic's. Hope this helps someone.

    Grant

Thanks Grant, that is what I thought it may have looked like. I was trying some large sockets but unfortunately they were not large enough.
I would like to be put on your list, if you wouldn't mind. Will PM you now.

Yes, I was the winner. Not for sale. I bought it for my HK1 restoration.
