I guess this is my official intro as well..
Im Dan from Toledo, Ohio. My dad had an H model when he was a kid. It was the teal colored model. When I said I wanted to buy a smaller bike to mess with, he told me to look into these. I found a 1970 KO model in Flint, MI. The guy listed it on craigslist for $450 I believe. I offered him $300 and he took it. It could only be push started at the time and the carb was really dirty. I took it home that night and was able to get it to use the kick start. It burnt oil pretty bad, the rings were beyond gone. I bought a new piston and rings, ported and polished the head, swapped in the sl70 hot cam, and polished the intake manifold. I got tired of messing with the old carb so I bought a new 18mm Keihin carb with a 72 main jet. Lastly I put on the K&N style air filter instead of buying the element for the stock airbox. It goes in the range of 46-48mph. I would like to re-gear it to try and get into the 50's.
About 30 minutes after I brought the CT home my uncle told me that he saw one in his neighborhood. Only problem was it was burnt to a crisp in a garage fire. The owner told my uncle that I could have it if I came to get it within an hour. This was not a problem since the guy lived only 4 minutes from my house. So with this parts bike I was able to make a very nice bike. Also, I plan to rebuild the shocks from this burnt 1972 model and put them on my 1970.
I also was able to get it titled. I then got it plated and insured. Its finally legal...Im just waiting to get the wiring harness in the mail to power the lights. I only have the engine wired at the moment.
The first picture was when I got it. The rest are the most recent.

This was the P200 Vespa I picked up for $25 sitting next to the CT. I parted that thing out and made a nice profit on it to put towards the CT.
