    Aftermarket fork for '70 z50ak2

I have been browsing the CHP site for parts, and came upon an aftermarket fork with disc brake that acommodates the original wheel.

The listing shows for k3 models(swingarm), and i am interested in using the fork on my k2(hardtail)

    P867
Front end with disc brakes. 1/2" longer than stock, comes complete with front forks, extensions, billet hub, speed-o drive and cable, Disc Brake rotor, master cylinder and caliper , as well as a new steering bearings, races and headlight brackets.

Nice solid construction, heavy duty brake components with high quality hub design for the 4-bolt Honda hub pattern used on the 1968 through 1978 Honda Z50. This is also the same bolt pattern as our Aluminum rim sets as well as kitaco.

The headlight brackets are wider than your stock Z50 A K3-1978 , but we offer a headlight and speedo combination that you can purchase separately.

    $199.95

I am confused if this will fit mine, since some of the literature from the site suggests it will fit. I was in the process of placing my order when the sales rep wasn't sure, and the tech guy was unavailable.

So, before i drop 200 bucks on this piece, is there a chance the header tube will fit the k2 frame?

1970 z50ak2 hardtail, 70cc cylinder, original crank and case, trail 70 exhaust, 20mm carb

Although I'm not a hardtail specialist, I'm pretty sure it won't. To the best of my knowledge, the hardtails have a longer steering stem tube (the same length as CT70's and Daxes) than later Z50's.

I believe it has to do with the HL bucket. It is larger on the 73'.

Mfro's right, the steering stem tube is longer on k2 and earlier. If you can fit the inner forks from the kit into the earlier outer fork carriers you could do it but personally I'd go for a hydro front end, no good getting better brakes if your still got crappy suspension. I have seen hydro's put on k1 and k2 before, I'll post a link to how it was done after work

Thanks for the info. I do know the aftermarket fork has a wider headlight bracket. I could shore that up with washers or bushings. My headlight bucket is bent up anyway, so i may do something else for a headlight if i were to use this fork.

I have the capability to modify the fork to fit, as long as i know what dimensions are different.

with the aftermarket fork, i may go with a different handlebar if the original one wont fit. I just need some more suspension!
