    The "Beater" project

Building up a ct70 so the wife can learn to ride and join me on the trails.

Advice from friends was "don't put a lot of money or time into it. Just build up a beater so it doesn't matter if she drops it"

That was the plan and I started off doing that but ..... I just cant bring myself to assembling dirty, corroded, or ugly parts. 1977 ct 70, bought for $ 450, disassembled, bead blasted everything, powder coated the frame, swingarm, and a few other pieces. Painted the rest of the pieces with self etch and top coat. Tossed all the old nuts/bolts and using all stainless (approx $30) new seat cover and exhaust for now. Wasn't sure about the green color till I saw it....... kinda liking it ....

If you still have all those old bolts you tossed I'd love to have them and will pay your postage.

Very impressive! I like what you did with the Green and Black. I'd love to restore one for my Wife too.

    That bike looks great

My beater also got things like a fresh paint job but we still made it out of spare parts, well mostly

I can call mine a beater, cause SS_Canuck dropped the needle clip in the grass and made a replacement from a beer can with a box knife - and it works

Beater CT's are awesome. Bikes are meant to be used, so enjoy it and laugh when someone drops it

Hey thanks guys, new parts were battery, rectifier, front light, rear light, grips, wheel bearings, brake pads, counter sprocket, engine gasket/seal kit, seat cover, fork seals, inner tubes, chain. aftermarket oem knockoff exhaust (won't do that again!) and stainless hardware.
even though its the "spare"bike its gonna hurt a little when that first person drops it. I'll try and keep a stiff upper lip a_smerek.
it on to the my ct project now...140 gpx/30mm fork w disc
