Getting ready for a public show.

So I scored Motoshop Z / Honda50.com a 10 by 10 booth for a car show in the underground parking lot of Japan town San Francisco for next Sunday 2-8-09.

The plans to bring out my custom mini collection and a few select other bikes from friends in the area to promote custom minis at a venue that's pretty much import tuner cars, models, JDM stuff, etc . It should be interesting to see what kind of response the bikes get. I know there has been some custom ruckus's there in the past but i dont think there has really ever been monkey bikes, chalys, apes, or ZB's at these types of events.

SO>... to make a long story drag on just a bit longer, I realized just how far from ready my bikes were to be shown just last week and got going on things this weekend. The Chaly needed so much t to get done before the show.

Yesterday and today I focused mainly on buttoning up the Chaly. All the little things really added up to take me much longer then I thought.
    Cables -check
    polish the triple -check
install Japan type tail light and wire -check
come up with a rear brake stay linkage -check
    wiring -check
    fule lines -check
    put license plate on -check
Make clutch cable bracket that mounts to the chaly frame -check

The bikes still not 100% but its just about ready to show to the public.

    Thanks Tedvegas.

The pin work was all laid on by hand by a local painter who's pretty famous for his work in the California custom Harley scene. I had no idea how it was going to turn out as i just said put something that matches the style and look that im going for. I provided a few pictures of other Custom low rider Chalys and crossed my fingers. I'm pretty happy with the results.

The clear lenses are actually the second set ive tried, the first set didn't quite fit right and these ones fit like the OEM versions.

Im super excited to show the bike this weekend and im really looking forward to buzzing around the city on it.

so close, so so close to done.

So i saw it on Ebay a long while back and at the time i didn't have room for it but i passed it on to a local buddy. He swooped it up for i believe very little shipping might of been close to the cost of the bike. I believe there is very few of these bikes in the states at this point maybe 5 or less. Some guy up in Canada said he had a few.

After some time of him with the bike he said he just didn't have time to work with it as he was putting together a custom monkey and that was keeping him busy. So I said I was ready for it and bought it off him and he pretty much let it go to me for what he had into it which wasnt much at all. Less then a G.

When I got the bike and started digging into it I found all kinds of interesting stuff on the bike. Like on the fork leg there was some sort of official staff sticker from a winter resort in Colorado. Then on the back of the bike there was another sticker from a air base on the east coast. Under the seat there was actually some paperwork from over the pond in Liverpool that dated back to 1979. Crazy to think what kind of life this bike has lived. Glad its found its final resting place with me here in San Francisco.

I don't want to get too much into of what I have put into it as im lazy and totaling up the receipts is a pain. But its easy homework, just look up the price on the G-Craft 3.4/10" - 4/10" rims, Heidenau k61 tires, G-Craft offset sprockets, Daytona adjustable shocks, FCR38 carb, Shift-up bars, Honda jazz fork guard, Over GP TI exhaust, 12 volt DAX wiring harness, and then add on your best guess at the cost of a custom paint job, custom seat cover, and some welding time for some the cut chop work on the forks to lower them. On top of all that there is also a motor cost. The one thats in there currently is a 137cc Honda nice with TJR bore, head and balancing/lightening work.

You must know asking a guy what his custom bike cost is kind of like asking a cougar how old she is.

    Brake's

This is a great ideal, I bet it really helps with wheel hop and rear end sag under hard braking. I may have to steal your ideal on that one.

    Thanks

    Nice looking bikes anyway.

Maybe you should paint it green.... Green with envy! Sounds like alot of jealousy in here!!

Chaly is a sweet ride! Don't know if I would have the b_lls to run white sidewalls on it, but with 12" G'craft rims it could look real coooool!

How did you get it Brad? I think Chaly looks cool as a lowrider street bike. I been using Chaly fenders on my ct70s for awhile now. Would love to get my hands on a whole bike!
