    First Resto

Finished last night. I had some problems with the carb, but it all worked out in the end. Once gas was in the bowl, it started on the first kick, no choke! Awesome to ride this afternoon around the neighborhood with the kids!

Why yes, yes I am. Thanks for the compliment. I worked hard on the bike. My kids think it's the greatest. BTW I fly a Boeing 747-400 for World Airways. I used to fly a Boeing 757. That explains the user name, but not much else!!!

    Cheers!

    Nice job Rod,
How deep of a restoration did you do on this bike?
Full engine redo, wheels tires yada yada.
Is the paint a Topaz color or more of a dark red?
I ride my K3 on the even days of the month!

Every last nut and bolt brother! Thanks for the props! You all have put in your share as well. I've been a lurker for awhile, starting posting during the rebuild. See my thread on paint for a K3 for info on the paint job. It's darker than a true topaz, but I wanted it that way. I'll post more details during my upcoming HK1 resto regarding whats and hows, because I didn't document this one. I will say that I tried to use all the original hard parts that came with the bike. Some stuff was sourced and some were fabricated, but most were just reconditioned. I will tell you that the bike that started this had been wrecked, on fire, and was missing electrical parts including turn signals. I've learned metal working, fabrication, and automotive paint techniques. It's been a blast!

BTW Thanks to Don, RacerX, and also you too Brian!

    Rod.

That is amazing that bike was in a fire! How did it catch on fire?

Way cool on you being a pilot...Coming from someone who is kinda scared of flying, (especially after 9-11) I am in awe of people that actually do it for a profession! Be Safe.
