My gear shifter shaft seal leaking oil when the engine is cold. Can this seal be changed externally. I hope I don't have to split the case to get to it. Can a motor expert help me out? Merry Christmas!

You will be able to change out the seal externally Bill. Is it the seal just in from the shifter? Take the shifter off and take a pick with a slight hook on it and just tug on each side of it and it should come loose. I had this same problem with my K3 last summer, after two seals found out the shifter on upshifts was rubbing on the flywheel cover causing the shift shaft to move in and out.![]()
Yes, it's the shifter seal. It drips a drop of oil once every couple hours. It's not serious, just annoying and a little messy. I'm glad it's an easy fix. I'll order a couple seals online today. Merry Christmas!
