    John's 74 ct70 resto project

Hi my name is John. I am new to this site and these bikes and just picked one up yesterday. This is my summer project. I think it is a 1974. I would appreciate any tips people could give me as to where to find cheap parts and tips on the resto process, my plans for now with it is to first resore it then possibly look into modifying it.

here are the things i have found that need to be done

all fluids drained and replaced (if possible let me know the specs on these as i dont have a manual)
left handle bar bent (needs possible replacement)
    needs Missing lower engine guard
needs new front shock boots and possibly new shocks
rear right foot peg either needs replaced or removed
    wheels need to be coated
    throttle needs to be unstuck
    new turn signal switch needed
    installation of a grab bar
    needs new seat cover
want to get the original carb

i will tackle these for starters

if you can help with a good price on any of the things listed let me know, im shure there is more needed too

I love to shop for stuff on Ebay for good used stuff. DrAtv / Beatrice Cycle is a great source too. It looks like a great project to start with. You'll be running in no time, I'm sure.

    haha bout time nate

will have tons of pics when i am home in 27 days

i found out the bike was made in october of 1973 from the tag on the frame

many parts have been ordered and i will take pics along the resoration process, not going to be a 100 point reso for now but it should look really nice when im done

one question, the turn signal lights dont work, is there a blinker module or does it use blinker bulbs?

Ya its going to be for the new bike, and I want to do some LED flush mounts off from a sport bike. I like knowing that I can lay the bike down and it wont break anything. Do you cruise woodward in the summer?

figured i would do an update on my build thread also as i have aquired many parts

    parts/items aquired for rebuild-

    new handlebars
    new seat cover
    4 speed trans
    shock rebuild kit
2 Bridgestone Trail Wing 400x10 tires
NEW AFT. CHROME spark plug GUARD
    fork reflectors
    rubber boot Boot Carb/Air Box
    FOAM AIR FILTER ELEMENT
    GASKET INTAKE TO HEAD
    1 foot of OEM_FUEL_LINE
    RUBBER for KICK start lever
    MAXIMA FORK OIL
    good chrome cleaner
black high heat paint for exhaust
    silver paint for rims

20 days until im home and work begins on it, i think i have most of what i need to make it look and ride very nice

in addition the handlebars shown on my bike in the picture are for sale, the chrome is very nice just a tiny bit of surface rust near the lever, the right bar is straight the left on is slightly off but a very good pair for a rider
