    New-Confused & Lost

Well guys I have sit back and read lot of your thread's as well as in your tech tip's, BUT I need some help... Racery was alot of help when I started this project but the more I go things get worse. I got a 1970 CT70 that was in bad need of a lot of TLC, a compleat front end and as I went a lot more. The bike had a motor from a CT90, and the wiring was hacked from front to rear. I got a nice harness off ebay that was in a 72 so I was told. After going through a number of diagrams it looks more like a 77 harness. The Ing. switch that come with the bike I think is stock!! Wire color's do not match at all. Do I buy a switch to match the harness and hope for the best?? How about the coil and rectifer use CT70 or CT90??? I went to a site that I am sure you all have been to and all he told me was it was to much of a swap and to complex to talk about through email or over the phone... The motor was in the bike, was not cobed, looked like it was made for it. I have already got a ton of time and parts into this thing to give up. ANY IDEAS HELP OR input is needed.
    Thanks Weekend

Well whoever you spoke to was right, its very hard to talk someone through electrical problems. Best you can do is post alot of high quality photos that show where you are having troubles.

Post a picture of the end of the ignition switch plug next to the spot on the harness it is supposed to connect to. Maybe someone can get an idea of what to do.

Electrical issues are pretty easy to resolve on these bikes, however..When you have no idea of the bikes history and you have a hack of wires in front of you i can seem worse than it actually is.

can you tell me what color wires are on the keyswitch? When you say "Wire color's do not match at all.", do you mean match the keyswitch.

If you can take and post pics of the rear of the wire harness we can problebly figure out you new harness. I have heard of people buying parts for CT70s only to find out the seller sold it as different year. I bought a battery box sold as 74, turned out as 73 or older.
