    Proper year Identification???

Alright guys, here it is. Tell me if I'm right or wrong. Candy Blue frame, 3 -speed semi-auto. Engine SN# CT70E-229995 Frame SN# CT70-229929. Wrong decals and wrong plate on neck? Plate reads: 12/70 and SN#229929. Just a little confused. Seems that the numbers indicate a 1973 K2??? I have other CT's and this one has stumped me.

    Maybe this will help:
Honda CT70 Mini Trail Motorcycles for the "H" models and:
Honda CT70 Mini Trail Motorcycles for the 3 speed models.

Can't tell you if your right or wrong - I'm stumped too. Does it have K0 or K1+ type front forks?

6 digit vin = K0. Or am I missing something?

The serial number plate doesn't match. If it was actually made in 12/70 than it would have a frame number in the range of CT70-130xxx to 150xxx.

I'm willing to bet the plate should read 12/72. You own a 1973 model K2. Sound's like a frankenbike to me.

Thanks everybody, a real odd one. I am going to remove the VIN plate on the neck and replace emblems with correct style. I too believe my original guess was correct, a 1973 K2 Thanks

I spoke to a guy yesterday and he said some of the KO's had serial numbers as high as the 260000's. I am wondering who has the highest serial number KO or HKO just wondering if anybody knows for sure.

I can believe the high serial's. Weren't the K0's produced for three years? BTW Fly made an excellent catch on the 6 vs 7 digit vins.

Yes, Fly hit it on the head with the 6 & 7 digit serial numbers. The KO's including the HKO's were produced from 1969 - 1971. I still would like to know of the members who read this board, who has the highest number (latest production) KO bike. Just intrigued at this point.

    Fly's right, guys, . . . if it's a 6 digit serial number it's a K0. ('69-'71)

K1 serial numbers began with CT70-2000001. 229929 is less than 2000001.

You can also check the frame number stamped above the chain guard on the left side of the frame. See if it matches the plate on the steering head. If it does you've got a K0.
