    1975 XL70 Wiring

New to the forum, just picked up a 1975 XL70. No spark, no lights. The horn is working. Where can I find a good wiring diagram? I have googled it to death. No results.

Thanks Snooter. I used that diagram and found my problem. It appears that the entire harness is grounded by the ignition switch being grounded to the frame. I had the ignition switch out so I could ohm the contacts on the rear. I installed it back in the frame and all works except the spark. I have a puller coming and I'll see whats wrong behind the flywheel then. The points are dead shorted all the time.

probably bad points...pull flywheel using correct puller..install new points and capacitor..set correct ignition timing and you be good to go...watch out for spark advance unit as it is possible to get the spark advance cam 180 degrees out...points should OPEN thats OPEN at the "F" mark....could be your kill switch is shorted out..check wiring in kill switch as well...no spark issues kinda points to shorted kill switch...be careful with kill switch..sometimes it can be a booger to get into..good luck..god speed

I changed the coils under the flywheel with a parts bike that is blown up but had spark. Added new points but did not change the condensor. They sent me the wrong one. I have spark now and have the points opening at the f mark. Still does not run well at all. The carb is clean as a pin and has been soaked out. When it will crank it will run at a fast idle but when I feed it throttle it dies. Most of the time it will just pop when I kick it over. I have good blue spark. Compression maybe? It turns pretty easy now that I have run it some. I will do a comp check tonight.

recheck timing...check main jet size..go back and reclean entire carburator..buy a cheap sonic tank to clean the carb...it sounds like timing may be off to me but who knows whats in that carb..
