In Line fuel filters for ST-90

    Hello All,
Finally got the little 90 to run (thanks everyone for the charged battery tip),
Now I would like to put in line fuel filters going to the carb lines. Anyone done this before, there is not much room. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks,
    Rick

I built this Dual fuel filter bracket from stock aluminum. It holds em in place pretty good. A good motorcycle shop should supply the parts to make this.

    Thanks Rick
I got em at DrAtv.com like last year but they're common in part supply places.
You have to do some tinkering with the way it fastens and if I remember i had to get some extra hardware to fasten it, basically modify to fit....

Isn't that a little too fancy? What's the benefit of that bracket?

    Fancy?
No, form follows function and I didn't design it to be fancy...
I needed the filters to be visible and didn't want them bouncing around or resting against the motor or tucked away somewhere. Why? because they're full of gasoline.
The other thing the bracket is good for is to secure the extra wires for the new aftermarket motors.

you can get the filters at discount auto parts stores. thats where I got mine. I don't know that I would go as far as making a bracket for it though.

what's the benefit of adding an inline fuel filter? They didn't come stock but is it a good idea to do it anyway?

Most of these fuel tanks are made of cold rolled, unplated steel that is prone to rust. These little bits of "rust dust" can plug up an idle / slow jet or emulsion tube hole very easily. Otherwise, without a filter, you will be cleaning your carb a lot. I routinely POR-15 urethane treat my tanks to stop this rust dust but I still run filters on my main and reserve fuel lines. Call me crazy,I guess.

Dr ATV sells a nifty little clear fuel filter that has ninety degree connections for the fuel lines. This is perfect for running shorter fuel lines that will let the lines be routed farther away from the exhaust pipe. Short fuel lines without this 90 degree fuel filter can sometimes have a bend radius problem that limits fuel flow to the float bowl.

Short or long, this fuel filter is a huge benefit.

yea those 90 degree filters from dratv are the best, and you are not the only one who does por-15 and still adds the inline filters, sure dont mess with the carbs much after that.
