Thread: S65/S90 engine question. Same engine as CT series?

Does a Honda s65/s90 have the same engine as a CT70 etc? I.e. can you put a CT lifan clone engine into a S90.

can someone tell me what engines fit into a S90? What engines have the same mounts etc. I really like the S90 body style, but do not know what engines I can put in it. There is little info on it.

As to Honda engines I think your pretty much stuck with the 90.90's are bigger in every way over a 50,65,70 motor.You could go with a ct 110 or an st90 motor but I don't think that will do much for you and besides these are automatic clutch models.Ct 110's are really 105cc. 1980's had 4 speeds,all newer ones to 86 are 8 speed. S65 motors are from the same family as z50's ct70's sl70's but with clutches like a ct70h model.

I was less concerned about a bigger engine vs what the mounts were. I really like the frame and look of the s65/s90. There is someone near me with a near perfect S90, but no engine. I just need to know what all will mount into it. I would be fine putting an auto clutch ct110 engine into it if that works. I would rather go with whatever engine that will fit and has the most aftermarket parts available. I just need to know frame compatibility. I would even be happy if I could throw in a lifan engine of 90,100,110 etc as long as it would fit the frame.

I was pretty sure all the Honda 50/70cc blocks were the same. So I would think any 90, 100, 110 Honda engine/clone would work.

Off topico you know where I could get a S65 gas tank? Or even a S90 tank? I think they are pretty close in size.

it can be done, but many things must be taken into account ( voltage, chain angle to clear the swing arm, and clearance between the front fender and the cylinder head), one of which is the S90 has 3 mounting holes and the CT (and lifan) has 2 mounting holes.
I have a complete S90 rebuilt with a 110 Lifan (2 hole mount) and it works good. It has a custom made bracket mounting into the 3 holes of the S90 and dropping down a bit using 2 holes for the 110 Lifan.

S90 had 3 engine mounting holes making it different from all the CT motors.

I have a s65 with a 90 Lifan mounted in it, an exact fit, change all the electrics to 12volt, and off you go!!

S65 is a CT style---S90 is not-- S90 has 3 mounting holes and you need to modify the frame of the S90 to take the Ct 2 hole engine, read the above message.
