    Smile Wiring question for a 1973 ST-90

    Hello All,
I was lucky enough to acquire a ST-90 last Week with 320 original miles on it, but most of the lighting does not work??? All the connectors appear to be intact, but the rear tail lamp does not work, the front head light works but only on high beam, the neautral indicator does not work, nor the turn signals, (the left rear turn signal lens and bulb are missing) anyhow,
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Rick

Most likely someone ran the bike without the battery in place, possibly damaging the regulator and in turn the bulbs. Get new, regulator, bulbs and a new battery.

    Hello All,
I thought the bikes would not run without the Battery (I think I read this here?) Anyhow, where is the regulator located?

    Thanks in advance,
    Rick

st90 must have charged battery..first thing is just check your bulbs to make sure they just are not burnt out...beyond that could be a lot of things..bad wires. connectors switches...start looking

The bike can have a battery installed and still blow out every bulb in the bike if it is a battery that will not accept a charge. A good battery is the voltage regulator in these bikes and acts to absorb the overflow from the stator. With a battery that has one or more dead cells all that excess power has to go somewhere and "POOF!!" there go all your bulbs acting like little fuzes.
