My Pitster Pro Classic 125 Build

My Pitster Pro Classic 125 was delivered today so I put her together.

    Opening up the box.

The metal crate was bolted together so it was easy to get to her.

All opened up and getting ready to install the center stand with off road pegs that Pitster threw in on the deal.

Getting ready to unload her from my truck.
Having the center stand mad it easy to install the front wheel. Finished up the build by installing the rear rack, handle bars, battery acid, tail light, connecting rear turn signals, battery leads, checking for loose bolts (didn't find any), checking oil, checking chain adjustment, adding gas, etc. I wanted to take a ride so didn't install mirrors and front fender which I will do tomorrow.
Fired her up and took a quick ride up the mountain on a logging road.
She did just fine and seemed to have plenty of power. I keep the speed below 20 MPH as I am breaking her in according to the owner's manual.
After I put on the front fender and mirrors and do a final check, I will warm her up tomorrow and do the first oil change before riding her.

Put her up in my shop for the night after the first ride.
I'll give a more detail impressions after a longer ride.
It took me about four hours to build her and read the owners manual.

change that oil. The stuff in there from factory is low grade fish oil. Also change oil in the forks. What are the upgrade/mod plans?

How do you know that the oil is low grade fish oil? I will take a sample when I change the oil today and send it off to have it tested.

I don't plan to do any upgrade/mods other than to add some luggage capacity and a oil dip stick thermometer. I like to leave my bikes stock.

She appears to be well built and the bolts are stamped with the grades. Time will tell.

NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER run the oil that comes with the china motor

I don't want to get into it...drop that oil immediately and replace with a fresh quart of 20-50 motorcycle formulated oil. NO synthetic yet.

Olives aren't widely grown in PRC and used cooking oil is mostly used for biodiesel...what does that leave?

All else being equal, leaving the motor stock probably will extend it's service life. More hp, more operating stresses and more rapid wear. As for anything else, including an oil cooler, if you're not happy with something or just want a better part, no reason not to make the change. If you like it as-is, then nothing really needs to be changed. Over time, most riders end up slowly, gradually, personalizing these bikes to suit their situations. The overall upgrading can be substantial. That's how most restomods & customs get built.
