Thread: Z50R handlebar mod...

I'm not sure if this is old news or not but I have come up with a handlebar modification for the 1980 & up Z50R models. It is very difficult for an adult to ride these models as the handlebars are fixed (too far back) & do not allow adjustment. If you unbolt the original bars early model XR75 handlebar clamps will bolt right on. You can then mount any bars you want & be able to adjust them. I used an old set of XR75 bars & cut 2 inches off each side to bring them to the same width as the originals.
This is what it looks like, I still need to paint them black.......

No offense but yes has been done many times.
You can use a 79 z mount or a 86 chrome special or crf 70 mounts are common and easy to come by. Even can use trx 70 or 90 mounts just have a screw hole showing, but people have mounted switches to it.
You can use this on any of the softail z50s not just 80-99. Hardtails can be used with a later clamp mount.
