    Confused on cables.

Ok? I need some input (or a poll of peoples opinion) as to which is the "Correct" way to run your cables.

I thought getting the correct color paint was a hassle and now this?

So, in the pictures below you see two bikes (and they may even be from the same person) that have their cables totally the opposite?

Which way is correct? One of them has to be?

    1) Behind
    2) Front
    3) Doesn't matter to me

I believe the correct postion is behind the bars.

Nice pictures. I wonder whose those could be. In my opinion, both are correct. I used original honda brochures for those particular models to route the cables. One is a HKO and the other is an HK1. Both bikes have them in front but, routed diffently down near the speedometers.

Original 72 Ad that shows it in front of the speedo. I am sure both are correct. ( I really think that is my bike in that picture ?)

I'm with KC and the Honda brochure having them on the "side". Two reasons:

    1) Assists with folding handlebars

    2) Keeps cables outta the rider's view of the speedo.

Look at the HK1 advertisement I attached below. It has one in front and one in the back. There are different cable routing in nearly every old picture I've seen. I guess there's no wrong way.

This will give somebody something to do- There are setup instructions on how to assemble the bikes that Honda gave to the dealers, but I have never seen them for the minis. They show how to remove them from the crates and how cables, wire harness run and what parts are supposed to be in the crate.Somewhere some one has them. I have them for my TL-125 and they amount to 20 pages complete with pictures. You cannot go by brochure pictures they can be wrong like this one, notice the gas tank badge on the 50

Yeah, I was about to chime in and say that they were assembled at the dealerships, so the "correct" way in old oem pics were a result of whatever was easiest for the guy assembling them. Or maybe he had an opinion on the matter. I didn't think to check the installation instructions. Good call. I'll be interested to see those in PDF format

Rick and Willie 002.jpgI am thinking they go in the front. Just my opinion, but I know on my bikes I run them the most logical way that keeps the cables from binding and on these bikes that appears to be the front. FWIW This is a picture of a HKO taken in 1970 and you be the judge.

Agree, especially when they picture an HK1 and can't even get its yellow color correct!

I do however like the way the cables are routed in the other brochure pic KC sent.
