Hello all...i am thinning the herd as they say...Just sold my CB750, working on selling the '91 CT70 and now this 73 SL70.
This SL70 has been my personal rider for the past 6 years and has served me very well. It was configured to suit my personal tastes and I make no apologies for what it is. This is a trailbike, pure and simple and will serve its new owner in the same way unless new owner wants to pour a lot of love and $$ into him.
Specs:
1973 (build date 5/72) SL70
Frame: Frame is unmodified and straight. It was sanded and rattlecanned black.
Bodywork: Paint was stripped off and rattlecanned with that chameleon paint that shifts colors. In the sunlight it still does, but this ain't no fancy pants paintwork for sure. Rear fender is good and straight. Front fender and fender holder very good. The tank is from an xl70 and is holds gas but isn't all that good with lots of dents. Tank is creamed and doesn't leak, but the petcock drips on the on setting. It is fine on the reserve.
Wheels: Front wheel is 17" from honda CT90 with a Michelin Starcross 70/100-17 tire on it. Rear wheel is from a Honda ST90 and has a Kings 90/100-14 on it. Both tires in Excellent condition. New rear sprocket geared 15/40 with 428 chain. Rear wheel missing 3 spokes.
Engine: Engine was built by me for me about 4 years ago. This is what I believe to be a Jialing, configured to 131cc, with a Honda Trail Bikes clutch on it and a Shengway 22mm carb. Starts up first kick, runs out perfect...the motor sports cryo hardened 3rd and 4 gear sets. Shifts 1 down, 3 up. No smoke...it runs awesome. Lightened flywheel and can run lights if you like.
Exhaust...this exhaust is a stainless steel one from an RCM pitbike. This exhaust is poor fitting and should be replaced. I am keeping my custom supertrapp I had on it.
Suspension: Running the original shocks and original forks. Forks were cleaned up, painted, and adjusted to my preferences. They do not leak to my knowledge.
Brakes: Front brake is a bit spongy but the rear is crazy good!
Seat: The seat foam and pan are great. The cover is shot.
Other: Bars are ATV 5" rise bars, regular levers. Stator is setup for lights if you want to pop some on. Running a WhiteBrothers CDI and stock xr50 wiring harness with kill switch.
This bike has served me very well and will be a great bike for someone to put a little time and energy with. You can use it to teach, bash, thrash, or what have you, and it will come back for more.
I will not ship the bike, but I'd be willing to seperate the motor from the bike if I had a buyer for the roller and a buyer for the rest. I will then ship the motor if needed but still not the bike. Pickup just outside washington DC.
I'd like to get $400 or so for it complete. The motor alone will make your CT70 hit about 60mph, if you just wanted the motor.
