Not a happy Customer, Brand New Lifan 125. No clutch.

I got my brand new Lifan 125 4-speed Manual Clutch in the mail the other say, being very excited i bolted it in my bike right away, wired it up, put on the clutch, fire it up, go to put it in gear and it stalls. it seems like there is no clutch there at all. is there anything you have to do to these things before riding? i thought they were just bolt and go....

    please help,

    Scott

Regular clutches often stick together after they have been sitting. Some are worse than others. I had a Barnett in a GPz that would slam the tranny when first put in gear when it was cold. This could be the case here. I always coat the discs with oil when installing them. This helps too. Make sure the clutch is adjusted. Loosen the clutch adjusting nut, turn the set screw until the tension is just out (play with it back and forth until you feel it). Back it off just tiny bit and then hold the adjusting screw in place while you tighten the lock nut.

    Good luck

well, on some of these engines, the oil wont flow if the oil cooler isnt connected. like, the oil goes from the pump, to the cooler, out of the cooler to everything (i think). because i ran mine, did the exact same as you. shifted in gear, died, again, died. i contacted the vendor and he said "do you have the oil cooler hooked up?" i said NOPE, he said hook it up and it should fix your problem and it did.

depending on what engine (i dont know which ones are what) and depending who you bought it from, they may or may not tell you.
