Thread: S90 CD90Z Chinese Engine Compatability

Hello, firstly thank you to the people who've added to this site. I've found much useful info in these forums that parts manuals dont provide. My question is, does anyone know a china made engine that has the same mount bolt pattern as a Honda CD90Z which is exactly the same as an S90. I've fully rebuilt the bike and is ready to run but missing an engine. I have the original engine dismantled but i keep looking at the bike and i just want to get it on the road. I dont want to rebuild the engine if i can avoid it. I want something i can bolt straight in. I can have a bracket made to bolt in a lifan but would rather have something that is the same if possible. I've read of people with the same problem but never with a solution. Thanks for your time

Your engine is an orphan, in terms of external dimensions. I'm afraid that your options are limited to rebuilding your existing motor, sourcing another used or NOS engine of the same Honda engine family or adapter plates if you want to run something more widely available.

sl90 and cl90 engines will work. There are small cosmetic differences and 4th gear is a little shorter. I scored a cheap sl90 engine for my s90.
