    1970HKO only 50 lbs compression

i recently overhauled the entire engine, honed cylinder, new rings, all new gaskets, and just about everything else. I know the clutch is bad but should that change the compression at all. I haven't checked the valves though, but i don't hear any valve knock when i turn it over. Any ideas of what all else could be wrong please let me know. Thank you in advance

I would check valve adjustment,in your case,it would be good to hear a hint of valve tappet noise, then you know for sure the valves are completely closed when they should be.Check them, engine cold, top dead center, compression stroke at .002 clearance. If there too tight(less than .002) that could be your compression problem. When I check compression,I have the carb and intake off,and kick it over at least 6 or so times, or until the gauge stops climbing. If you dont come up with anything, then I would squirt some oil in the spark plug hole, and try checking again. If compression goes up,your rings/cylinder walls a problem..let us know.....

Honed the cylinder and new rings? Did you put a ring in the cylinder first and check the end gap? I posted regarding zero compression. I started tearing everything down and got to the clutch side cover, took it off and the adjuster had backed off on me some how. Adjusted it and the cable, put carb and everything else back on. Started and ran. And I thought I was frustrated.
Hang in there hopefully something not too serious. Please post what you find is the problem.

I know that the clutch isn't adjusted correctly because when I pull the clutch lever with it in gear and try to move it, it still tries to turn over, maybe its the clutch adjuster, i know how to adjust that, so ill try that first. Thanks for the ideas
