    69 silver tag value?

I just picked up a 69 sapphire silver tag frame and swingarm from a bike scrap yard. One tiny ding and a little surface rust on the inside. How much is this frame worth in its present condition? Also, is it normal for the date stamp to be unreadable or non-existent on the silver tag bikes? Any info would be great! I gave $25 for it.

    Thanks,
    Motorhead

The silver ID tags were only on the first couple months of production. They didn't have the "Month/Year" and actual VIN displayed on the tag. These bikes in original form are some of the most sought after by collectors. Unfortuantely, with out the original motor much of the value is lost from a collectors standpoint. Others may disagree but, without the matching engine, I think you have a $40.00 to $80.00 if posted on Ebay.

No retiring but you could do like Hornetgod did with his green HK0 and source an engine close in number. Might be difficult but possible. And I've found some people aren't at all concerned with "matching numbers" in as much as they just want a real nice CT70...

Its a good start on a nice project. Good luck!

Depending on the severity of the dent, that frame is worth a hell'uva lot more than $40. You sell it for $40, you let me know. They are the "rarest" of the rare bike and in high demand. Becoming scarce, but you can find a engine that's close in numbers if you're patient. Good luck.

Besides the frame, how much of the other parts do you have? Are the front forks, swingarm, shocks, intact? Did you look around the same salvage yard for the engine?

That seller on ebay says-THIS IS A VERY RARE EARLY MODEL IT HAS THE TAILLIGHT WIRING RUNNING THROUGH A RUBBER GROMMETED HOLE IN THE TOP OF THE FRAME. SOME SAY THESE WERE THE FIRST 200 BUILT.

Is he right on that? I don't know that much about the CT's but mine is dated 10-69 and has the bolt on tool slot on the seat. It also has the same wire run.

He is correct that the wire through the top of the frame is an early model but it is not exclusive to the silver tag. Joe
