Hello guys i wanted to share with you 1 of my favorate minibike stories from my childhood. The year was 1977 in the month of july a beautiful new york city summer day...As we were all playing in the neighorhood park in rode 2 kids ( not from our neighborhood) on their minibikes. Well to us they didnt just have minibikes...they had "special" minibikes...you see in our neighborhood the most common mini's were the Rupp's, the Z50's and of course the king of them all the "Honda Trail 70....However, these 2 kids were riding a Yamaha GT80 and the other guy was on a Kawasaki MC-1 90cc enduro. We all gather around them in a circle admiring their bikes as they proudly sat upon them...when suddenly the "cool" kid of the neighborhood "danny" pushed thru the crowd to see what all the excitment was about....as he broke thru the crowd and saw the kids on their bikes...he stood back...he couldn't loose face to these outsiders....only 1 thing left to do... a "challange"...the kawasaki 90 would be a little too much....so he went straight for kid on the GT80... "LETS RACE"!...the GT80 rider asked what do you have...Danny replies wait right here and you will find out...he runs to his house and returns riding his Red Honda Trail 70 into the middle of the crowd....right up to the kid on the GT80....by now the whole park is in a frenzy!....both riders ride up to the top of the hill....the race was the length of 5 city blocks.....they start off even but then the mighty CT70 pulls away and wins! The CT70 returns to the park as the GT80 rider just drives away....THE CT70 is still the king of the minis!![]()
