    Disc brake front end

Its been over 2 weeks since i paid for the disc brake front end from Dex on ebay. havent heard anything from him since he accepted my offer, don't answer any of my emails. Noticed he is has not had any items for sale in the last few days. Starting to get nervous. Anybody else having a problem?

    good news

I had the same concerns, saw that he had dissapered , and had paid my fork disc brake upgrade and chrome wheels since the 16th last month. I received them today. The wheels I guess I screwed myself, they are 8in. for the Z. But he did say for CT70 (just load on and go......) Oh well I will pass them on. The fork luckly in good condition , considering the condition of the box on arrival , and his method of packing. All in all the fork is nice quality for the price. As for the wheels not very nice chrome. If anyone can recommend some nice wheels for the CT it would be appreciated.

But hang in there your parts are probably on their way After all don`t forget I am far away.

I know that in some of dex's past auctions he's said that he is going to be out of the country (parts wrangling in china, I assume) for a couple of weeks at a time and to be patient. Perhaps he's on one of these trips right now.

Best bang for the buck are G-Craft aluminum wheels, available in 2.75", 3.50" & 4.00" widths. Unlike virtually any other aftermarket wheels, they can be used with the stock CT hubs...which saves a small fortune. Aftermarket hubs oftentimes cost more than the wheels.

Ok, forks have arrived today. Im having a buddy bore out lower tripple so tubes will fit. couple missing bolts but not a big deal. one concern is Forks are very loose and have a ruff feeling when you compress them, havent had time to inspect them, but it seems like these were shipped with no fork oil.

The set I got seemed that way too. I have not installed yet, but it is probably wise to simply drain the oil in the forks (if any) and re-fill with quality fork oil. How much? I will try the amount used in the late model CT70 forks, as they are pretty much a clone of that shock.

Probably not a bad idea to open one up and take a gander inside to make sure there is some level of quality inside anyway!

They could have WOK cooking oil in them for all we know the service manual that came with my Roketa Chinese knockoff bike says right in it not to use "Cooking or vegetable oil" in the engine this must be common practice in parts of China as proper oil`s may be in low supply??

Remove the bolt on top of each fork leg (not the bolt that holds the fork legs to the top triple plate) and dump out the crappy oil.

While not commonplace, the only way you are going to get any sort of decent suspension out of those forks is to use 90wt gear oil and use trial and error on the volume until the forks are stiff enough to your liking. The valving in those forks is non-existant, and normal fork oil won't cut the mustard.

When you remove the bolt on the top of the fork leg, you'll see the chinese use a piece of pipe and a crappy progressive spring that isn't stiff enough for the fork leg, so you'll have to bandaid it by using heavy oil.

When you fill each leg, you'll have to pump the fork leg up and down to get all the air out of the system.

Be patient and make sure you fill each leg with the same amount of oil.

    Enjoy!
