    Hauling a MiniTrail???

Anyone have any good pix of how they haul there bike? I have a pit bike that I'd like to haul with my vintage race car on an open trailer and am just starting to think of how best to "rig it up".

    Thanks

I think racerpartswholesale sells a chock of sorts, kind of a place to put the front wheel of a minibike into, then you could use straps to hold it tightly against that chock. Bolt this onto some open space on the trailer, should be fine to mount it perpendicular to the road, if it's behind the car. You should have lots of room next to that MG

The best method is clamping the tires. There's just not much to get hold of for ratchet straps, plus the paint and handlebars are too easily damaged. A wheel vise is really slick, but not inexpensive. I made a bike carrier from a 24" x 48" sheet of 5/8" plywood and a couple of 2 x 6s made into an "L" shape. Three carriage bolts with wing nuts are enough to clamp the front tire firmly in place, taking advantage of the flex in the plywood. Total cost, about $30

Can't really think of a great way to carry a bike outside a car/truck, unless it's a beater bike. In that case, a carrier that uses wheel cradles should do the trick. It will involve some improv on your part and of course the bike will be exposed to the elements.

See attached. I've since reinforced the bottom of the rack and with tiedowns, it works like a champ.

    Hauling

I have an open trailer with not much room. I think I make a small platform that goes over the tongue area. I need to relcoate the spare tire (easy to do), but still need to use the hand-wench as I load it often by myself with the tail of the trailer tipped down.

    Here's a few pix:

What do you pull your trailer with? If its a suv, then they make a front hitch mounts for a lot of the suvs. I have seen the carrier like pony express showed on the front of trucks. Check that out. The reciever hitch it hidden by a drop down tag plate, so when not in use its toyally hidden.

    Front Hitch Platform

    Kenfyoozed,

Have to look info that. Sounds like a good, easy option.

    Thanks

They also make a cargo hauler like pony expess's that allows you to put a hitch on the back end, allowing you to pull a trailer right behind it.
