    having trouble shifting

first off im having trouble getting it into neutral from a standstill and later when im trying to get it into third or 4th gear it doesn't like to get into the gears right away and will just rev up if you don't let the engine slow way down first first and second are easy shifts though. what could be the reasons for this, thankyou

Sounds like clutch problems. First make sure that the clutch is releasing fully when the lever is squeezed and that the cable is not so tight that it never fully engages. After verifying proper adjustment, if there's still slippage, it's probably in the clutch as well and indicative of worn friction discs/plates and/or tired springs.
