    Kickstarter slips when starting

    Hello,

My '74 CT70K3 kickstarter slips when kicking it. The spline is not slipping. It slips as if there's a clutch inside. If I kick it carefully, it works, but the first 1/2 of each kick slips, not turning the engine over.

I haven't been inside the engine. Anyone have thoughts before I split the case?

    Thanks!

That's worn clutch plates you got there. I'd take the RH cover off and check what kind of clutch plates are on your bike, 'cause some have a double-sided friction plate, and some are just single-sided. Once you know, order 'em up. And while you're up to your elbows in the clutch, might as well pop the plate and clean out the centrifugal oil filtration system (just look for a build-up of oily, gritty dirt, and clean it out.

Thanks for the quick help. I'll open 'er up this weekend, order some plates and gaskets and be back in busyness!
