My CT-70 is running funny story

Ok I just purchased a very complete ct-70 minus the turn signals for a wopping $50. A bit rusted and weathered but workable! I put fuel in it ans it poured out so I ordered $120 worth of parts from www.dratv.com While waiting for parts The front tire was flat so My son(Alex) and I restored it. Looks great
I adjusted the valves (They were tight) pulled the flywheel and cleaned up the points and stator! Installed a new 6v battery Checked spark good spark!
Parts arrived thursday so I rebuild the Carb at work now we are only waiting on the fuel bowl drain screw that was missing when I got the bike! Friday My son waited by the mail box no package So we wait Saturday My son see the mail man and haulls ass to the mail box! He comes back yelling that the part is here Thanks to www.hondanuts.com
So we put a new o-ring on the screw and screw it in the carb! He grabs the gas can we add about 1/2 gallon turn the fuel petcock on and wait about 2 mins
I turned the key on and started kicking. The 3rd kick it lights off and purs to life! I figure I should check and make sure this thing shifts so I drive it down my drive and it sputters so I adjust the carb a bit. Get it running abit better
My son(Alex) Says Can I try it so I say sure but keep it in 1st gear!
So after about 10 mins or So of riding I tell him to come over to me an shift to neutral he shifts to second and almost falls off the bik only holding on by the throttle twisting it back comming at me one hand on the bike with that look in his eyes. I try to stop the bike. It runs over my leg slamming me to the ground I reach up and turn the kill switch off and get up and help him up
Check the bike for damage not a scratch It hit my body on the left and his on the right. He was fine But I got a torn lower leg muscle. SO All things said I am so happy to see the look on his face while he was riding that bike! He looked so happy. I am 31 and I always wanted a mini bike so it is so sweet to finally have one to share with my Son.
    Hope you enjoyed my story
    Tim

Photos and maybe a short video soon !

    Great Story!

When I brought my CT home some months back, and started it up on the driveway, my almost 3 year old son came running with arms extended. To make a long story short, he simply loves to sit in front of me, so we can motor around the driveway circle and yard in first gear, him reaching up and honking the horn.

You, your Son, and your CT will enjoy many hours of great memories. Now you just need to get a second one for you to ride

First time my 12 year old son tried my CT70H I told him to give it a little gas and ease the clutch out. It had a 13 tooth engine sprocket so I figured he couldnt stall it. Next thing its at about 4000 RPM and he lets go of the clutch lever in a giant wheelie as I grab the bars and we are spinning around in a circle. Finally I get it to the grass and lay it down engine screaming and get it shut off. I told him I was glad I didnt say to give it a lot of gas. A week later we are at the Bonneville salt flats watching. I tell him to go easy because those are the original 1300 mile 1971 tires. He comes back and says 40. I say 40 what. He says 40 MPH, thats how fast it will go. The fun never ends

My son calls it the Green Hornet. Its presently going thru a ridestoration {new word}to clean it up, put street tires on it higher gearing, new chain & sprockets, battery, lights hook up , wheel repaint and clean it up from several years at the salt flats as a pit bike. The way gas is going it amy be my regular ride. These things are like money in the bank

If u plan on doing any riding at all off road I'd consider the knobby tires instead of street - I had street on mine when it was first bought and its insanely squirrely off road til I got the bigger ones - But if your mainly gonna be onroad I think I got 5 MPH more almost with street
