My Honda ST/CT story so far

When I look back on when I saw my first Honda Dax I can clearly recall how I instantly found it cool just by having one look at it.

My then buddy from school had quite a few Honda CD50's and it did start the love for 4 stroke motors and the Honda brand. That Dax came by for fixing and was soon stolen as I remember it.

That was around 1988-1990 and it was not untill till 1999 I guess that I went ahead and found a Honda ST50 Dax with a motor that was completly taken apart. I still wanted to try one. I got the motor fixed by a Honda nut and got it back to running state. Being a moped 30 kmh or the cops could confiscate some parts is the law so it was build with that in mind. Standard 50ccm and was it 4 speed? I think it was a CD50 motor which was common on Dax and plenty about. I fixed it up as much as I could. The motor got stuck one day and fixed again. It ended as it did not run to well so I had a repair shop having a look. The guy recommended a new tophead so the next day I went to my Honda nut and got one. Monday after work I dropped the new topend off and got the Honda back on the friday.

Now the new topend was not legal so the Honda ran a bit faster but did it well. I used on saturday and then monday. Tuesday the engine got stuck on the way to work. That was it and I sold the bike on thursday. Few bikes are hell and maybe this was one of them. Always something to fix. I only got 1 picture and its not good.

In 2000 I found a Honda CT70K0 on ebay.com. It was an okay looking ruby red 3 speed which was running. I got it imported to Denmark and it arrived in 2 boxes in the fall of 2000.

The smaller box was taken inside so not pictured. It contained the motor.

So on to the inside of the big one.

Looks like the front wheel and a chain.

A little rust here and there in the usual places. Tires were good and wheels nice in paint.

    Out of the box.

As the general condition was good I put the motor back on but it was not running to well so I took the bike to the same repair shop that the Dax went too. They adjusted the motor and one friday after work I went and picked it up driving the 21 kilometres home on it. Slowly out of town but then I gave it some speed only for it to slowly die. What is this? Just serviced and should be fine right? I quickly found out that the gas was not being sucked up by the caburator so it would run a little then I had to tilt the bike to fill it up all the way home.

I then went online and learned that any CT70 caburator needs to be gone through and cleaned and so forth. I got a cab kit from CHP. Installed it and then the Honda ran perfectly top speed about 43 mph.

I can't recall if I did any other work other than getting the lights to work but compared to my former Dax this one stayed running great. Perfect it was not as the gearshift and kickstart was welded on but a great running bike. The headlight bucket also need to be changed.

I never knew the ID VIN on it as I did not know or cared at that point.

As it needed work to be really great I ended up selling it a few years ago.

Yes I did have the skidplate and it came back on the bike.

So now I'm importing another CT70H in bits which is going to be totally rebuild.

    I will keep you posted.
