    Welcome!

With regards to the ITS service, it does work. You get a signed-off registration form from a state that does not require titles, a bill of sale to you from the company, and a letter from the state indicting that titles are not issued for these bikes in that state. At least in Washington (notoriously hard to get a title without clear paperwork!) I walked in, paid my money, and was out with my title, registration and a plate in under 20 minutes!

Check the posts here for some of the really good suppliers, like Dr ATV, Honda Trailbikes, and several others. I have personal GREAT experience with both of these companies, and both have really nice catalogues online.

    Again, welcome to the addiction!

    Hi & welcome aboard

I've used International Title Service with great results. The painlessness of the process is well worth the cost. However, I'm not a left-coast resident and cannot speak directly to what you're facing. That said, I do think you'll find that having a 36 year old bike to register is a blessing. The older the machine, the fewer regulatory hoops through which one is forced to jump.

    To the Point!

Kate, if the spark you get is "only a little" one you should probably re-check your point gap. Might be too close to get a good spark. The plug should have a good blue spark if your getting good power. You might also try using a small propane torch and pre-heat your spark plug electrode. If you get spark are you getting fuel. Have you checked the end of the plug. Is it wet? Or very dry? If it's wet it may be flooded. Then the propane trick will work. If dry, you might not be getting any fuel. You could then give the spark plug hole a little shot of fuel before replacing the pre-heated plug. Should fire up or at least pop. Good luck...

If the points cam isnt lubed it will close the gap up in a hurry with a new set of points. If they are closed up you may want to look at that. Special point cam lubricant is best but a light dab of lubriplate or wheel bearing grease will work. It also doesnt take but the smallest piece of trash in the gas tank to plug the slow jet. If the bikes been setting it will have dried gas trash in the tank like a powdery stuff. Id bet the points are closed up.

    not starting

thanks to you all who are trying to help- what is this lube and where do i get it from for my points? the bike had been running until about 2-3 weeks ago when we had problems with the kick starter- and found out it was stripped- we got an original replacement this last week, and had also replaced the throttle cable (which must have been the original one) that had also been broke by a friend after we tried putting another kick starter (that turned out to have stripped splines) and tack welding it on ( my friend took it around the block and he came back walking it{ major disappointment!!!}) the spark is blue, it's just not a very bright one.... i am getting tired of seeing sit on my porch , and not being able to ride it it's as bad as not being able to ride one of my horses, and that's BAD!!!! thanks again to all who are trying to help- katie
