    I'll add another question here....

Starting from ground zero - what is the best way to restore a wheel?
I just got mine split apart and they need work.

    Thank You

Sandblast them down to bare metal. Primer them, paint them and if you want you can even put some clear coat on them too to protect the paint from chips. I personally don't clear coat my rims, but to each his own.
On the inside of the rim You can paint it also.

    wheels

I found the clear coat darkens the color . I do multiple coats of paint & let it dry well. 3 + days .

If you want durability, powder coat the rims and hubs. I found a color that matches (almost perfectly) the Honda cloud silver. No rust, chipping, no fuss. Just my .02

Agree. Do you recall the name of the color? Spraylat gray perhaps?

    Tom,
For the kindof riding I'm going to do with my restored bikes there really is no need for clearcoating the rims. Strictly riding on paved roads and short trips to the store for some barly pops!

No, I'll ask the guys who do my stuff next week when I stop by their shop to pick up more stuff for my addiction. I also do my footpeg assembly and kickstand and spring in the shiny black.
