    stock gearing

    I am looking at regearing my 72 ct70h but couldn't remember stock gearing ratios. I am wanting more top end, can anyone give me some suggestions. i know this has been visited about a bunch on the boards but I didn't have time to Search for it

    It depends on the engine you are using. I am using a 17/31 on my 110 Honda Nice. It has more top end and works great for road use. I believe stock CT70 gearing is more like 14/44 or something like that, I'm sure the guys on this board can tell you for sure.

    From the parts manual:

    CT70: 15/38
    CT70H/HK1: 14/45
    CT70K1: 15/35

    I've left my H alone as I'd rather my kids keep the speeds down on the trails. We don't want them on the roads, at least not yet...

    You could try going down to a 38T on the rear. $28.99 at dratv.com. You're going to want to keep a compromise between top-end speed and sluggishness when starting out in 1st.

    Don't want to go too small on the rear if you have astock motor and have to contend with any hills. My stock 72 HK1 reall slows down going up hills and I have stock gearing.
