    Won't go back in gear

After sitting idle for many years, I got my 1970 CT70 running, however I couldn't get it into gear. After draining oil, taking clutch cover off I figured out why. I shifted from 1st to neutral and now its stuck.. won't go into first..only stuck in neutural. I noticed that I did not tighten the nut on the clutch assy..
I am no expert on this.. but the nut wasn't that loose. Any thoughts?

First things first. When you took the clutch cover off did a bunch of pieces kind of fall out?
If so you better first make sure everything is back the way it should be inside there. A parts diagram under the resources and links section of this forum will help you out there. When putting things back together it is easier if you lean bike on its side. If everything is back as it should be then you can try adjusting the clutch. Do this with the engine not running.
    Loosen the adjusting screw nut
Turn the adjusting screw counterclockwise one turn
Slowly turn the adjusting screw clockwise until resistence is felt
Then turn the screw counterclockwise 1/8 to 1/4 turn and tighten the nut.
This is just the general setting for the clutch adjustment and can be played with a bit to find what is best for your bike.
