    4 speed shifting woes

Just finished a Sl 70 engine swap into my CT70 KO ,problem is when i shift up into 3rd i get a grind noise but 3rd will not engage. 1st 2nd and 4th are fine. I disasembled and inspected the bottom end before assembly and all the gears and shift forks appeared fine. I have read in some threads that the pins in the shift drum can wear and give trouble. The bearings and clutch plates are all new.I might add that when downshifting from 4th to 3rd the bike is in 3rd on the rev down but once i give it throttle it grinds and does not engage. any ideas????

Maybe the 3-4 shift fork ears need to be replaced.
