Battery wont charge from engine running

I have a new battery and it wont charge. what is the problem? is this the stator or the rectifier?
my turn signals go dead in a few minutes.

when i rev the engine it does not make the signals brighter... makes the headlight brighter,,

the engine makes the headlight and tail light work fine.

    please help!!!!

Did you initially charge the new battery before you installed it. A new battery needs to be charged. These batteries are not like car batteries. If your headlight gets brighter when you rev the engine then your stator assembly is okay. A bad rectifier does cause non battery charging but usually your bulbs will blow out as well.

Yeah - battery was charged and is fine as it runs the tail light fine.

battery is fully charged as the horn works and the tail light is bright and brake light works when engine is off.

turn signals wont work at all when the engine is off and its just off the battery.
when engine is on they are ok.
im wondering if i have a bad connection somewhere.
when i hit the brake light the signals have no power.. i think they got wired into the brake light when they got put back on the bike.
do you have a wire diagram of how the rear signals get wired in on an 82???

    thanks

did you try a voltmeter on the battery when the bike is running.you will see it go to 8.something volts when you rev it if its charging.

    thanks...
i assume the battery is ok as the headlight gets brighter with more revs,,, shouldnt the signals or are they on a different cicuit???

could it be a bad rectifier???

what are the effects of a bad rectifier??

Still wondering what the deal is with charging the battery. I have put the 6v yaesu battery on a trickle charge for about 6 hours. With the engine off and the key on, the tail light works and the brake light and the horn and nuetral light. when i start using the signals they will flash ok, but while flashing when the brake is pressed they will stop flashing and go solid orange. IS this a low battery? i tested it and it was 6.5v. strong on the test. can a bad or corroded signal relay cause them to draw more power???
what is the best way to get the signals to work??

and does the engine charge the battery when it is running???

    thanks again
