Should work like HG's telon tape but your threads won't be gummed up. I know it's less than innovating engineering but sometimes you gotta do, what you gotta do...
INTERESTING. I'm going to see if that works better.

    Thanks,

original carbs can be had at a reasonable price on ebay, taking the carb cap off again isnt helping your problem.i would leave it alone till i sourced another carb.i hate buying a bike that someone boogered up insted of fixing it correctly.wonder bread costs as much as a new carb cap.unless u fish out a stale loaf out of the supermarket dumpster.LOL.

I don't like the implication that I'm "boogering up" a bike. This was "boogered up" when I bought it. Sure, I can buy another used carb off eBay at a reasonable price, however, I run a high risk of being exactly where I am right now. I can also buy a brand new OEM carb to make sure the bike is a Concours quality build in case you buy it in the future. Or, more likely, I'll do a cheap quick fix that will not degrade the performance, quality, or value of the bike.

This is a daily rider. I'm not blasting wholes in it with a shotgun. Gimme a break.

p.s. a new carb cap is $24 + shipping @ dratv, I think your wonder bread supplier is ripping you off.

Once I get a taillight + bracket on this beast I'll post up some pics of my scoot as I bought it vs now. You will be pleased to see that I have revived something that many would have parted out to something that gets compliments everywhere I go (speculation, damn winter).

    Have a good one,
    Adam
