    Carb Help?

I have been trying to get my old ugly 71 H to run proper. I have rebuilt the carb and have gone thru it about 5 times now. It was fairly gummed up. After the first unsuccessful attempt, I let it soak in carb cleaner for 24 hours. Came out a bit cleaner and it still won't fire up the bike. I know the bike runs because I can spray carb cleaner into the throat and it will start. As long as I spray fluid she will run. I did not replace the pilot jets because they look good. I also do not have the air cleaner assembly on it but I would think it would still run without it. Float level is withing spec as well.

    Any ideas?

Do you have good fuel flow to and through the carb?? You can check by turning the fuel on and then opening the carb bowl drain and see if you have a good flow of fuel coming out of the drain line. Also did you replace the needle and seat when you rebuilt the carb?

Did you clean out the 8 littles holes on the side of the pilot jet?

Yes I did but only counted 6 holes on the side and the passage thru the center is open. Could a PO have put in a wrong part?

I forget how many holes exactly but that would be a start. Better take the carb apart again and look closely at the jet. There may be two holes which are completely blocked.

    Another carb with woes?

Hope I'm not beating a dead horse here but here goes. The main jet in my carb got gunked up from a dirty tank. I have pulled and cleaned the tank, new lines with filters and removed the carb and cleaned out the jets with brake clean. The bike starts and idles great, but off idle it boggs and coughs and does not want to run. The carb is a new one from Moto Enzo, I am to blame for
most likely allowing crud from my old tank to get in it. The previous mentioned work is after speaking with Enzo and following his advice to the letter. Question? Is there anyway to get one of these little carbs cleaned out without damaging the o-rings or seals? I noticed another member soaked his over night
in carb cleaner which did not seem to help? That is strange since usually that does the trick. While apart I checked the tiny holes in the jets with my K&L wire jet gauges although some of them are even smaller than my smallest gauge! Any help is appreciated. Thanks
