    Carb leak

My HK1 carb is dripping from the S-Reserve-On valve.
    What is the customary fix.

    Which seal might that be?
    How do I access it?
Is there supposed to be a gasket between the S-Res.-On bracket and the carb?
    Diagram?
I'm neophytic, but I learn fast and use tools well.
    Just need comprehensive direction.

Don't worry about it mrdi, we all learn something every day. The seal/gasket is metal, behind the petcock plate. Check the two small screws that are holding the plate very gently to see that they are tight...They will strip very easy so be careful. I have seen people put a fuel resistant silicone type seal around the assembly, but it probably won't hold and you don't want gas dripping on the motor or bike. I have also seen the petcock plate bend if the petcock is hard to turn. If that is the case it can be straightened but you would want to get the petcock loosened up or it will keep happening. More than likely the screws need tightened OR the gasket/seal is weak. Check the two screws first.

    KM,

    1) checked snugness of screws first
    and snugged.
leak very apparent at S less at Res and none at On.
    2) Removed left screw and the loosened r screw- flow major, gas abundant.
re-snugged both screws, new gasket apparent.
    3) Flow seems stopped for now, but have not re-started engine.
    4) Where is the best place to set the cock to see if re-set took care of leak?
    5) Should I turn off fuel somewhere to replace gasket?
    6) where would I get gasket and 2 new screws?

    Thanks,

    Mrdi

I would start the bike in the on pos..switch to res and finally to stop and see what happens. You might get lucky and it re-seated. If not turn the vent off at the cap and drain the gas out of the bowl. If you have hemostats you can disconnect the two lines at the petcock and clamp them off. If not just drain the gas out from the lines. dratv has the gasket you need. Might as well buy the whole seal/gasket/o-ring kit while you are doing it if they are the originals in your carb. If it is not leaking in the on pos, just leave it there if you ride often and are not transporting the bike until you get it fixed. Look at the Clymer Manual for instructions on replacing everything. dratv might even have an exploded drawing for reference, I'm not sure. It is not a bad job to do. If you have never had your carb apart, it would be a good time to replace and clean everything especially the rubber parts (replace).

"The seal/gasket is metal, behind the petcock plate."
When I removed screws the flow was significant.
Should probably turn off gas somewhere ??
    Where?
The gasket I saw when loosening the screws appeared dark cardboard?
    I re-secured the screws.
Link to new screws and metal gasket (Specific Please)

    Thank you gentlemen!

The petcock is where you turn off the gas..When you loosen the screws gas will flow out, you are loosening the petcock. In my last post when I said to turn off the gas cap vent..that will restrict fuel, by eleminating air. If you have hemostats you can clamp off the two fuel lines at the carb and drain your carb bowl. If you do not have hemostats, just drain the gas from from the reserve line (ribbed). The gasket should not be cardboard. Look on dratv.com in the carburation section for a gasket/rebuild kit and anything else you might need. Follow the Clymer Manual for installation of new parts and/or take pictures/notes as you disassemble your carb .
