    carb.replacement

    Beatrice cycles has a replacement carb. for $49.99. Wondering if anyone has purchased one and what type of quality is it. Does it bolt right on like they say or are modifications needed? My 1972 ct70 k1 has the stock carb. and for $49.99 I wanted to try it. Thank you.

    I asked the same question but never received a response. It looks like you can get a petcock for two gas lines for the same price. Looks good but never tried it. I guess for 50 bucks its worth a try.

    new carb for 71CTK1

    Hi,<O:p</O:p
    </PRE>
    I just bought a CT70 KO THRU 1977 DIRECT BOLT ON
    REPLACEMENT CARB (300011)
    300011 $49.99 from Beatrice cycle
    shop (same one you bought) for my gold
    72 CT70K1 went on perfect, but
    I had some trouble putting the air box back on. The page states that;
    “If you don't have the stock airbox the filters at the bottom of this page
    will work on this carb”

    http://dratv.com/ctkoth19dibo.html<O:p</O:p
    </PRE>I have not had a chance to fiddle with the air box. DrATV, at Beartice, assured me that the air box would fit. The only big difference is the fuel shut off and fuel line hook up is on the other side by the exhaust. I trust their site and have been happy with everything bought from them thus far. I will let you know on Monday what I think about the new carb.

    Sincerely,
    19classic79

    I've got a new Beatrice carb

    I also just bought one of Beatrice's $49.95 carbs for my 72' CT70K1. The rubber gastet going from the stock air box into the frame is about 1/4" short now. We are still working on a cure. The carb came with -0- instructions and I am struggling with inital air fuel mixture settings. I didn't contact Beatrice (weekend) but will today and try their suggestions tonight. I would appreciate any tips on air fuel mixture settings - initial start ups.

    Thanks everyone

    Web site says its perfectly jetted main & idle for a stock CT. Is yours not stock or is it not prefectly jetted ? Im real curious as to any improvement on a stocker. As to the airbox how about a second whole or cutdown spacer with longer studs or bolts, would that work to reach the stock airbox? From what Ive been told it is pretty restrictive also, although mine doesnt run much different with or without it

    new carb for CT70K1

    Hi,

    I have the same carb as described above; I also have the same CT70K1 that it went on. The stock airbox doesn't fit, I chopped off about 1/2 inch to make it fit. I also bought a K&N air filter incase the modified airbox didn't work out. I think the carb works great I haven't made any adjustments to it. It seems to works fine right out of the box.

    Sincerely,
    19classic79

    The only parameter of concern might be the WOT mixture. You don't want the engine running lean at full power. Other than that, if it runs well, the air/fuel mixture should be close enough.

    carb & airbox

    The carb works great , gives me full power . Easy to hook up. Only issue that I didn't have before hookup is: it's a little harder to start, takes a few more kicks. However I did change the points and condenser,so maybe the harder starting is because of points needing closer adjusting.The airbox issue: I elongated the 2 mounting holes to bring the airbox closer to the carb and it catches just enough to mount. One other thing about the carb.The shutoff is too close to the exhaust. Harder to turn it to off without touching the hot exhaust pipe.

    If it's harder to start, the cause is most likely due to a leaner mixture. Try turning the idle airbleed screw in 1/2-1 full turn and see if that helps. Some carbs don't even have real chokes, such as Mikunis which have a seperate "choke circuit" that effectively primes the engine to allow startup. If harder cold starting is the only issue, then it's a non-issue. CT70s were cold-blooded right from Honda, so what you have could very well duplicate the original carb setup. As long as it runs well once up to operating temp, no worries.

    Hey Racer, thanks for the quick reply. I think I'll leave it the way it is ,as I hate touching those screws. As long as it's running so good. I'll put up with the extra couple kicks to start it. Thanks again.
