Question CT70 still wont start help PLEASE

Well Im getting spark now that ive played with my points a bit but the bike still wont turn over. I thought it might be the carb so I took it completly apart cleaned everything really well and put it back together. Getting spark, getting fuel....? what is missing?

    Couple of things to check:

Pull the spark plug and see if it's wet. If it is wet, you are flooded, if it's completely dry, you may not be getting fuel. If it is not flooded, try a shot of starting fluid to see if it will at least fire. (starting fluid is useless if it's flooded)

Check your valve lash. It is common for the clearances to get too tight due to recession. Set them both to .002 and see what happens.

So did it attempt to fire when you shot the starting fluid to it? Have you grounded the spark plug against the frame to check the spark? Did the spark jump to the ground electrode, or did it jump elsewhere inside the plug? Was it a fat blue spark? What do you have the point gap set at?

No offense, but I've asked you some detailed questions and rather than answering them with specifics, you just start another thread. We can't physically be there to diagnose, so we ask the questions that will help lead us to the next step to isolate the problem. For instance, when you say you've got spark, that doesn't necessarily mean the spark plug is firing a healthy spark in the cylinder at the correct time across the intended air gap. The more detailed and specific feedback you can give us, the better we'll be able to help you.

I did give you a detailed answer. I have set the plug to the stock setting given in the manual that I have for my bike.

Turn the fuel on to the reserve position and open the the bowl drain and see if you have a good flow of fuel. If it dosent pull the carb back apart and check it out again. If it does pull the plug and shoot a couple shots of motor oil in the cylinder. Run the piston up and down a few times with the kick starter to lube everything up. Put a new plug in and see what happens. This has worked for me in the past. Also when you took the carb apart do put the air screw back to where it was before taking it apart? Try it at about 1 1/2 to 2 turns out to start.

It looks like a moderator has consolidated your threads into just this one. It was the breaker points gap that I was referring to, what do you have that set at? If you're comfortable that you have all the bases covered with the ignition, then give it a shot of starting fluid and see if it fires off that. If you don't have any starting fluid, then unbolt the intake manifold from the head and pour a few drops of gasoline directly into the intake port and try to start it. You should also see the spark plug firing in there when it gets to BDC. If you don't see the spark, we're back to the ignition.
