    guide seals?

do all heads use a valve guide seal,The last 2 I disassembled didnt have any on the exhaust valves, were they missing or do some depend on stem to guide clearance, that wouldnt seem like much of a seal

They disintegrate in time. They were installed on the exhaust valves only.

On CTs, they only had a seal on the exhaust valves up through '79, but they added a seal on the intake valves in '80. They're not quite as critical on little horizontal engines as they are on big vertical engines. (or American V8s) I've seen plenty of 50/70s that got put together without the seal and it didn't seem to make much difference, but I use them cuz that's how Mr. Honda designed them.
