Question High RPM stumble, runs bad new to the site!

    Hello,
New to this site and new to the CT70 repairbut NOT new to reparing motor of all types!! I have a 72 CT70 K1 It starts good and runs mostly good. When at high RPM it stumbles and runs poor. If I use some choke it smooths out. Telling me it is a carb problem; lean. I have taken the carb apart and it is clean and all the jets are open! The carb was not origonaly on this motor. The main jet looks to say 58. Is this correct?? I forgot to write down the pilot jet number. What should the stock jetting be?? Where is the best place to buy jets for it?? I also need the fork side reflector and rubber backers.. Thanks Brian

I love the k1's because of the eyeball headlight.I think it looks better myself....

Its hard to troubleshoot anything from afar. These old 6 volt bikes can be very sensitive to the slightest adjustments. You can be robbed of power from turn of a screw or being off on your points setting by .001.

The 58 jet is correct for a stock carb, idle jet is 35. Your good there. Acouple things come to mind with your problem. Ventura size?,(What did the carb come off of ?)..float? Poorly adjusted float wont let enough fuel in the bowl to feed the engine at max throttle. Air leak around carb/intake? This can effect your throttle through your whole powerband. Petcock screen clean? You could be getting fuel restriction there if it is half clogged up...Needle postion? This seems to mainly effect 1/4 to 3/4 throttle, but proper adjustment can only help you. The lower the groove ,the richer the mixture.

The side side reflectors are $16 ea/rubber base is $3.75 ea at http://dratv.com/honctminnewp.html I order 95% of my parts here.
