    HK1 rebuild

    Please list..
The ten most important things to consider on a typical
HK1 restoration project, in order that the scooter be absolutely functional.
Not a concourse repro but a good functional example.

    The bike will be ridden:
80% street in the residential neighborhood
    15% Dirt trails
    5% maintenance LOL

Before you can define anything you have to indicate what your intentions are for the bike. Are you putting it on a display in your basement, riding offroad, riding on road at highways speeds, touring the country, or letting your kids learn to ride their first bike.

If you don't know what the bike needs to do, you can never build it to do just that.

What are you planning for the bike? then you can start to think of the route forward

Kinda a loaded question. Does it run, shift and perform like you want? If not maybe an engine rebuild is in order. Is the paint and frame nice and acceptable to you? If not maybe a strip down and paint job is in order. Do all the lights and horn function as required? If not you will need to fix and repair them for your road travels.

Side note: Be advised the (H)K1 handlebars are like gold. I just scored some from eBay however they were *not* cheap. But they are the correct and perfectly straight ones. Yes they can be straightened but there is a potential risk of cracking and breaking them when doing so.
