Haas...I didn't take it as criticism...I thought the same thing you did...I had forgotton about the brake thing even... until yesterday I saw something on a Monkeybike and remembered it. I have never heard of a CT getting 10 miles on a tank of gas so I just thought...Maybe, it's possible I guess that it could be dragging if he's checked everything else. No problem at at all HaasTell me about that Ruckus...Does it have decent suspension?
That ruckus is one of the funnest things I've ever owned. It kinda reminded me of Honda Z50's with the fatter tires and tubular frame. On a good day, It can hit 45 mph, although lately it seems to not quite get that fast. The engine is real finicky. It seems to run best on hot muggy days. But you can't beat 100 mpg. (good thread to mention that in, hey?)
The suspension stinks!! The rear suspension is pretty good. I have an aftermarket shock on it, but the front forks are stock, and they bottom out waaay too easily. I would like to put on aftermarket forks, but now my money is spent on my CT70, so the ruckus stays like it is. Despite that, it's still a blast.
Thanks Haas,
There are some very cool mods for them...After reading Wan's story I really wondered about the suspension...He was pretty small though.
I'm not sure how old he is...I would guess mid to late twenties. For anyone to travel 8 months straight for 18,108 miles in a foreign country on a Ruckus is remarkable.
Seeing the pictures that he he took and reading his story really made me realize how little of the USA I have seen, or paid attention to. It took a long time to read the story, because I didn't know about it until recently so I got to read from start to finish. The thing that amazed me about the Ruckus was that he just spent a little over $600 in gas!
I like the way they look, not as much as the CT70, but they are kinda tough looking and seem to be very popular with a lot of different age groups as well as economic classes. My local Honda dealer said that they sell a lot of them, especially so when the gas prices soared. He showed me all the mods available to them...You can get about anything you would want and have a mint in one...but also have a very cool little scooter.
Yeah, they definitely have a strong following. Mines customized quite a bit. Aftermarket exhaust, polini variator, rear end extension kit, aftermarket front fender, aftermarket intake. I think that's about it.
Anyway, didn't mean to steal the thread. Sorry, Steve O.
Hi y'all
Ok after the test run I did about 25 miles and still have gas left in the tank so that is definetly better than 10 miles on a tank guess those big hoses were leaking after all!
Still haven't found a way to get my speed back over 30mph!
I played around some more with the air mixture screw and the throttle stop screw!
But no luck!
Anyone out there that can guide me in the right direction on how to dial them in righ?
Thanks,
Stevo
I seem to recall reading in the clymers manual, turn that air mixture screw inward slowly, untill the bike starts to run rough. At this point, take note as to where the screw is. Then, turn the screw outward, until the same thing happens, but count how many turns it takes until the bike runs rough again. At that point, turn the screw back inward 1/2 the amount of turns you counted.
In other words, there is a point inward where it runs rough, and a point outward where it runs rough. You want that screw to be in the middle of those two points. Hope I made that clear.
