Ok, I will post pictures of the complete tear down of my 1970 ct70 very soon...I finally got to the stage where I wanted to see if all the parts worked and went for a start. After months of sitting and the engine being torn down and rebuilt it started second kick (after unsticking the float). not just did it start, but when I tested my wiring job-the lights worked as they were supposed to. It was running rather shabby and I decided to put the seat back on it and do a road test-which I did. under the seat was no battery and some exposed wires...well 2 exposed wires...I started it up and decided to play with the carb a little. as I was beside the bike, i thought i could hear something shorting...and for a reason as yet unknown...i reached up and turned the key to turn on the lights...the bike instantly died. I opened the seat and am pretty sure the hot and ground wires were touching. I took care of that and well...no start. Put in a new plug...nothing...took that out and the small electrode was black and no spark. I should have tested it before sticking it in.
anyway...this bike always has started second kick. How bad do you guys think I damaged it? Where would you start on trouble shooting this problem? There isn't even any ticking you would hear when testing a plug on the cooling fins...nothing. What did I kill??
Thank you so much for any response.
