Thread: Just bought Mini 50, questions, many many questions

I'm new here because I just picked up a early 70s mini 50 yesterday. It isnt perfect but looks cool. Its missing the fenders and headlight, but hey for $50. I'm cleaning the carb right now, bike hasn't been started in a year. First off I have a throtle question. The throtle grip handle is off and I can't remember how to get it back together and make it work with the slide. Can someone walk me thru it? Also, is there anything special to look for when I first start it?

Ok, I have the throttle figured out now. The carb is clean. It started on the first kick but doesnt have alot of power. The carb has blowback. I adjusted valve lash. The intake stays open for part of the compression stroke which pushes the gas back out of the carb. Is this normal or has the timing sliped? Are there timing marks I can check? Thanks

I planned on doing that but my local stores didnt have a copy so I have one ordered. I was just wanting to get it running to take to the Honda Hoot this weekend. Oh well.
